Ionela Timofte is responsible for all counter-trafficking activities of IOM Austria. She is currently implementing two projects on the identification of trafficked persons:  “Asyl-Train - Trainings for identifying trafficked persons and acquiring intercultural competences in the Austrian asylum procedure “ and “Protecting Children in the context of the Refugee and Migrant Crisis in Europe”. Prior to joining IOM, she worked at a language institute and at a translation office. Ionela Timofte studied English and Romance language as well as literature in Bucharest and Vienna, focusing especially on linguistic and cultural studies.

Franziska Wallner
Project Clerk
Franziska Wallner is responsible for implementing the project “Asyl-Train - Trainings for identifying trafficked persons and acquiring intercultural competences in the Austrian asylum procedure “. Before taking up her position at IOM Austria, Franziska Wallner worked as a project researcher for LEFÖ-IBF, the Intervention Center for Trafficked Women in Austria. She obtained a bachelor´s degree in linguistics and social and cultural anthropology in Auckland before studying European Ethnology in Berlin where she focused on Migration and European Studies. She also has an LL.M. degree in Transnational Crime and Justice.

Focal Point Counter-Trafficking
Katie Klaffenböck is responsible for all counter-trafficking activities of IOM Austria. She is currently implementing two projects on the identification of trafficked persons: “Asyl-Train - Trainings for identifying trafficked persons and acquiring intercultural competences in the Austrian asylum procedure” and “ TIP-Train - Awareness-Raising and Training Sessions on Identifying Trafficked Persons”. Before joining IOM Austria, Katie Klaffenböck served as a consultant on migrant smuggling at UNODC. She has a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a master's degree in European Union Studies.
