Integrated Approach regarding Information on Return and Reintegration in Countries of Origin

Duration: 01.11.2008 to 30.06.2010

The IRRICO II project “Integrated Approach regarding Information on Return and Reintegration in Countries of Origin” aimed to gather and consolidate return and reintegration information on countries of origin in order to help those working directly with migrants wishing to return home by providing up to date and reliable information on education, health care, housing, employment possibilities, transportation, social security and other areas. This served to support migrants in making a fully informed choice.

IOM’s experience in assisted voluntary return and reintegration (AVRR) programmes has indeed shown that the availability of reliable and updated information on various aspects of return and reintegration provided at the earliest possible stage of the return process plays a key role in not only preparing and informing the possible returnees on the return and reintegration possibilities available to them. Making an informed choice also has a considerable impact on the returnee's capacity to reintegrate in his/her country of return. As a result, availability of reliable and updated information considerably affects the sustainability of the return process in the long run.

IRRICO provided information about return and reintegration possibilities in the following countries of origin: Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Armenia, Brazil, Cameroon, Congo DRC, Georgia, Ghana, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Côte d’Ivoire, Kosovo*, Moldova, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Serbia, Sudan and Ukraine.

In addition, on the IRRICO II website a country sheet and a contact list is provided for each country of origin with the addresses of relevant organizations and service providers such as hospitals, schools, universities, ministries, NGOs, etc.
