Internships at the IOM Country Office for Austria

IOM regularly recruits interns for project support and assistance to the office's regular activities.
The duration of internship is usually 3 to 6 months.

The working languages of IOM Vienna are English and German. A very good command of spoken and written English and German is a prerequisite for an internship. Knowledge of other languages is a distinctive advantage.
Moreover, a basic knowledge and interest in the field of migration, asylum and integration are important requirements for an internship.
Applicants should be between 19 and 36 years old and have less than two years of relevant working experience.

Interviews with IOM staff are conducted at the office in Vienna or, if not otherwise possible, by phone. Travel costs cannot be reimbursed by IOM Vienna.

Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Unit

The Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration Unit of the IOM Country Office for Austria implements country-specific return and reintegration projects that aid voluntary returnees in re-establishing their lives in their country of origin. Interns assist in the implementation of these projects.

Joint Internship in the Integration Unit and Counter-Trafficking Unit

The Integration Unit of the IOM Country Office for Austria implements a number of projects and activities that assist migrants to integrate into Austrian society. The Counter-Trafficking Unit carries out projects aiming to raise awareness about human trafficking and increase the identification of trafficked persons. Interns support the integration and counter-trafficking teams in implementing these activities.


Research and Migration Law Unit
