Integration not only concerns the society as a whole, but multiple parties are involved on a national, federal and first and foremost municipality level.
More than 50 representatives of voluntary associations, municipal administrations, national authorities and alliances as well as International Organisations participated in the national closing event in Vienna on 21 November 2017 of the international IOM project: “Integration in Communities”.
Not only the outcomes of intensive competence and capacity building in the frame of the project, supporting the integration of migrants on municipality level, have been presented, but the conference itself emphasised the features of better collaboration between public and voluntary structures.
Beside valuable Inputs from the Austrian Association of Cities and Towns and the Viennese Municipal Department 17 for Integration and Diversity, participants of the conference engaged in workshops and designed solution strategies for specific challenges in the areas of living together, Networking and voluntary work.
The Integration Department of the IOM Country Office for Austria thanks all the participants for their constructive insights and valuable contributions on migration and integration on municipality level. We are looking forward to the international closing event on 28.11.2017 in Brussels, where representatives of all the participating communities from Italy, Rumania, Poland and Austria will exchange their experiences and best practices within the project “Integrating Migrants in the EU: Cities’ Solutions”.
